In July, 2007, Mitchell Planning Group, LLC began review of the existing UDC and presented a diagnostic Report to the City Council on August 15, 2007. Input was received by elected and
appointed officials as well as citizens, City staff, and outside engineering firms that utilize the City’s UDC. On January 10, 2009, the Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on the completed UDC and held a “Special Called” meeting on January 21, 2009 to vote on
recommending approval of the document to the City Council. Input received at the January 10, 2009 meeting by the Commission and Citizens was incorporated into the completed version presented to Counci. On January 27, 2009 and February 3, 2009, the City Council conducted its public hearing. Staff received comments from various citizens and City Council members and incorporated
many of those comments into the revised UDC document. On February 17, 2009, the City Council adopted the revised UDC on First Reading. Minor clerical/grammatical changes were made following that meeing; however, no substantive changes were approved. on February 24, 2009, the Schertz City Council adopted the revised UDC on FINAL reading with minor clerical/grammatical changes.
