Schertz Ushers in New Era in Learning: Opens New Public Library
Mon Aug 31 2009

In late 2005, Garden Ridge Pottery founder Eric White and his wife Carolyn donated $1 million towards the construction of a new state-of-the-art public library in Schertz. On, Saturday, August 29th, city, state, and community leaders: as well as scores of volunteers and supporters, gathered to cut the ribbon at that new library at 798 Schertz Parkway and usher in a new era of learning in Schertz.

The donation by the White’s was just one factor that started the ball rolling on a whole community effort to build a new library.  In May 2006, voters visited the polls and overwhelmingly approved issuance of a bond to help the project alone.  Two years and $8.5 million later, the new 31,000 square foot Schertz Public Library dwarfs its predecessor.

Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to come and check out the building and join us in celebrating Schertz’ new era in learning.

Stay tuned for more about the grand opening in the October 2009 issue of Schertz Tales.
