By Chuck McCollough The section of Wiederstein Road between Schertz Parkway and FM 1518 will be upgraded including a new bridge, according to Schertz City Engineer Larry Dublin.
Schertz, Selma and Guadalupe County are participating in the upgrade.
The first phase of the project is making improvements on the road from FM 1518 in Selma to the Schertz city limits, Dublin said.
Work on that portion of the road also gives Schertz time to construct a bridge over the West Dietz Creek drainage ditch between the two cities.
Construction on the bridge is slated to run from late December 2009 to June 6, 2010, the city engineer added.
“The bridge is part of the overall effort to improve flood control and safety in the area. We already did a channel improvement in that area,” Dublin said.
The bridge is a $280,000 project with Schertz and Selma splitting the costs, he added.
After the bridge is finished the second phase of improvement to the road from Schertz Parkway to the Selma city limits will begin. |
