SCHERTZ SOCCER COMPLEX HOSTS SOUTH TEXAS CUP
Tue Feb 16 2010

The Schertz Youth Soccer Alliance (SYSA), in conjunction with South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA) and the San Antonio Soccer Association (SASA), will host two major events on February 20-21, 2010 at the Schertz Soccer Complex.

STYSA is hosting the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Texas Friendlies.  The ODP was founded in 1977 by U.S. Youth Soccer as a national identification and development program for elite level youth players. The program identifies and develops youth players to compete at the state, regional, and national levels in support of National Team development efforts.  Participating in the ODP Texas Friendlies are Under-13 & Under-14 Boys & Girls State Teams from South Texas, as well as teams from Louisiana, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Also, SASA is hosting the Texas State Soccer Association - South (TSSA-S) South Texas Cup (STC) at the Schertz Soccer Complex.  STC is the official tournament organized and administered by TSSA-S, and created as a system of competitions to recognize the achievement of the most competitive adult men's teams and players. These competitions are organized to establish state champions in several categories, to include the Premier Division tournament which is scheduled to be played at the Schertz Soccer Complex.

The ODP & STC events will begin at 9:oo AM both Saturday & Sunday.  The events are free to the public and everyone is welcome to watch high-level youth & adult soccer.  The Schertz Soccer Complex has 12 full-sized competition fields, and is the longest active premier soccer-exclusive facility in the San Antonio metropolitan area.  The complex is owned by the City of Schertz and is operated & managed by SYSA, a non-profit youth soccer organization.
