Patrol Division
The Schertz Police Department's Patrol Division actively patrols the
city that is divided into five districts. There are currently 22 sworn
officers assigned to the patrol division, plus 3 reserve officers. Through
active participation with community members and neighborhood organizations
we are addressing the quality of life issues and seeking solutions to
concerns in our rapidly growing city. Reduction of crime and traffic
safety remains our primary goals.
Included in the patrol
division are the Motorcycle Unit, Schertz Honor Guard, Bike Patrol,
and Special Traffic Detail
Schertz Honor Guard
The Schertz Honor Guard consists of members of the Schertz Police Department
that display the flag during ceremonies sponsored by the city or requested
by special events in the city of Schertz.
Bike Patrol
The Bike patrol detail
is manned by officers specially trained in both safety and tactical
operations of using the bike for patrol. Bike officer usually ride
in teams of two in neighborhoods and business districts. There strategic
importance lies in the ability to access areas not feasible for
patrol cars or officers on foot.
Special Traffic Detail
The special traffic detail is manned by officer(s) trained in traffic
investigation and use of laser radar. Officers serving in the traffic
detail focus primarily on enforcement of state traffic laws, accident
investigation and directed patrols in traffic problem areas. |
