Water
and sewer facilities are publicly owned and have capacity
for growth. Electricity is furnished by Guadalupe
Valley Electric Cooperative, City
Public Service, and New
Braunfels Utility. Natural Gas is supplied by CenterPoint
Energy.
Telephone service is provided by AT&T Telephone
Company, and television cable service is available from
Time

Water
The 2007 and 2006 drinking water report can be read
by clicking on the link below. The City of Schertz has been
utilizing 100% of the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer for drinking
water since March of 2003. Due to state requirements, a
complete year of water data must be analyzed. Therefore,
all reports are always behind one year. If you have any

Taxes
The State of Texas and Schertz impose no state or
city income taxes. There is a 6.25% state limited sales
tax, a 1% city sales tax, and a 1/2% county tax. Ad Valorem
taxes are levied by the county, city and school district.
The City of Schertz has a 100% market value with a 2003
Ad Valorem tax rate of .3825 cents per $100.00 valuation.
Voters also approved a 1/2 cent sales tax for construction
of new emergency service facilities.
Housing
There is a variety of housing available in Schertz.
Homes are being built in several newly developed subdivisions.
Costs vary according to location, size, and features offered.
Existing homes offered for sale or rent are available at
variable costs according to offerings. Several new apartment
complexes within the city are available. The majority of
citizens are homeowners who take tremendous pride in maintaining
their residences, making for a more livable and pleasant
community - and a good place to raise a family.
